First published inthe NEC is updated and published every three years, with the edition being the most current. Most states adopt the most recent edition within a few of years of its publication. As with any "uniform" code, jurisdictions may regularly omit or modify national electrical code sections, or add their own requirements sometimes based upon earlier versions national electrical code the NEC, or locally accepted practices.
